Connectivity

Understand the path between your phone, your computer, and the running app.

Get the local connection working first

Your computer runs the project. The phone needs a supported, authorized connection to that computer before it can show and use the private preview.

What you’ll need
  • Lyre open on the computer that runs your project.
  • A paired phone, tablet or second computer. Pair a device →
  • Both devices on the same trusted network to begin with.
  1. Check the project runs on the desktop

Open the project on the computer and confirm the app starts there.

  2. Put both devices on one network

Connect the phone to the same Wi‑Fi as the computer.

  3. Pair, then open the preview

Complete pairing and open the app from Apps.

Guest Wi-Fi blocks this

Guest networks and device-isolation settings stop two devices on the same network from reaching each other. If the preview will not open, check the host first, then the project process, then network access, in that order.

It worked when

the app loads on the phone and responds when you touch it.

Work away from the computer

Remote connections, code editing, agent conversations and starting projects are free. Free also includes off-network live app previews within the account's application relay allowance. Hosted video fallback has a separate allowance. Check plan limits; AI provider charges are separate.

A different network

Off-network use needs a supported transport configured for your build. A successful same-network test does not prove the deployed relay or another remote route works.

  1. Keep the host online

Leave the computer awake with Lyre open.

  2. Test from a genuinely different network

Try the phone on mobile data, not on a second router in the same building. Do this before you rely on the route.

It worked when

the app loads and responds on the phone while it is on a different network from the computer.

The same network

You do not need Pro for this. Follow the local connection above.

It worked when

the app loads on the phone on your own network.

Do not publish your dev server instead

Do not expose the project’s development server publicly as a substitute for a private preview. A public URL has a different access boundary from an authorized Lyre session.

Want the whole computer, not one app?

See remote desktop. It has its own permission and its own platform limits.

When the computer is offline

A phone cannot start a project through a host it cannot reach. Check, in order:

  1. Power and sleep

Is the computer switched on and awake?

  2. Network access

Is it on a network that still works?

  3. Lyre

    Is Lyre actually running?

  4. Retry

Once it is reachable again, try the connection once more.

Where Wake is available, configure Wake-on-LAN in the host's firmware and network adapter and enable Allow remote wake in the host's Overview settings. The owner chooses whether Owners or Owners and Developers can wake it; app-only viewers are excluded. Pair while the host is online so this device can retain its permitted setup.

Wake sends from a supported desktop or native client on the host's local network. Plain browsers cannot send the packet. A sent packet is not proof that the computer is awake: retry the connection. Hardware and network configuration must support Wake-on-LAN.

It worked when

the phone reaches the host again and can open the app.
