Your coding agent, from your phone.
Lyre connects a phone or browser to Claude Code and Codex running on your own computer. You send the request, read the diff and open the live app. The agent, the files and the commands stay on the host.
Reviewed against Lyre's public guides. Check current device support and plan limits before you rely on them.
Pick the walkthrough you need
Each guide covers setup, one concrete task, the checks that actually prove it worked, and what to do when the connection or the provider fails.
Claude Code: remote access from a phone
- Reach a Claude Code conversation on your desktop.
- Request one focused change and verify it without moving the project.
Codex: work away from the desk
- Open the existing Codex conversation from a phone or browser.
- Review its current diff and test the result in the app preview.
Review agent changes on a phone
- Follow a repeatable loop: scope, diff, running app, test output.
- Decide whether to accept, request a fix or stop.
What stays on your computer
Lyre is a host and client, not a hosted IDE. When your phone asks for a change, the request reaches the computer you paired with. Claude Code or Codex runs there, with its own provider account, project files and tool permissions. Your source is not uploaded to Lyre so the phone can read it.
That also sets the limits. If the host sleeps, loses its network or quits Lyre, the phone cannot continue the turn. Keep the machine awake and online for the work you plan to do remotely.
From an authorized client you can:
- Send and steer a request in an existing conversation.
- Read the actual diff in Changes before approving anything.
- Answer provider approvals for the command or file scope asked.
- Open the running app and interact with the preview.
- Stop the turn and inspect what state it left behind.
- Revoke devices from the host when access changes.
The setup, in order
The details differ per client, but the shape is the same. Follow the dedicated guide for your agent if you want the exact screens.
Install Lyre on the computer with the project
Check platform availability and device support first. The host is the machine that will run the agent and keep the files.Connect Claude Code or Codex on that computer
Sign in with the provider account you already use. Provider usage and billing stay with that account and are separate from Lyre. See provider setup.Pair the phone and grant the right scope
Pairing alone does not grant development access. Approve the project for a Developer connection, or share one app for App-only access. See device roles.Open the project, the conversation and the preview
From the phone you can read the conversation, inspect Changes and open the app preview while the host keeps working.
What this is not
Not a hosted coding environment
- This workflow does not clone the project into a hosted IDE.
- The computer you paired does the work, which is why it has to stay reachable.
Not a replacement for your provider
- Lyre does not include a Claude or OpenAI subscription.
- You connect the account you already pay for, and its limits still apply.
Not permission-free
- App-only viewers can use a shared app, not the agent, source files or terminals.
- Developer access is limited to approved projects.
Works on your network and away from it. Local connections can stay direct. Off-network app previews and remote sessions use Lyre's relay path and the host account's allowance. Check current plan limits rather than assuming a quota.
Common questions
Can I use Claude Code from my phone without a cloud account?
You can start with local projects and supported provider accounts without a Lyre account. Hosted features such as relay, Lyre AI and Cloud have their own account and plan requirements.
Does the computer have to stay on?
Yes. The phone is a client. If the host sleeps, goes offline or quits Lyre, the agent cannot continue and the preview is unreachable.
Can someone with the app link read my source code?
App-only access is limited to the shared app. It does not include agent conversations, source files, terminals or desktop controls.
What happens to my provider bill?
It stays with your provider account. Requests made from the phone run on the host under the same account, so the same usage and limits apply.
